The Bathurst 100

A tenth of the length. A quarter of the speed. Doesn't that sound exciting? :p

Got another 5hrs on my L's yesterday. My Dad felt it would be a good experience to drive around the Mt Panorama racetrack in Bathurst. Dad drove to Richmond and then i drove from there to Lithgow, down Bell's Line of Road (sp?). Beautiful scenery. Going down to Lithgow was the most exciting bit of that leg. Ended up in a line of cars behind a trailered truck that was going about 20 km/h down the windy/zig-zag road. Had the clutch in the whole time, coasting and braking, coasting and braking. Eventually there was an overtake lane, and so we got passed it. Took about 10seconds for the line to run into another truck (>_<). Swapped over again in Lithgow as my Dad didn't want me tired.
Mt Panorama was really steep, both up and down. The 'Dipper' corner was fun. If you took it in 2nd gear, the wheels lifted partially skidding as they come back down (as the wheel is turning faster than the others). Shame about the 60km/h speed limit, though you couldn't go much faster for most of the way. Some of the corners I took at 30km/h the race drivers do at over 100...
Stopped after a while and bought a sandwich at Subway. Never eaten there before, and it was certainly better than most fast food. Went back after that and did about 5 more laps (a few around the reverse circuit) then started home. I drove back from Lithgow and got some heavy traffic in my book (finally..).
I now have nearly 20hrs on my L's. I'm finally getting there after a year of having them (still can't get in the driveway properly though :p).
